Arthur Matthews, born c. 1959 in Castletown Kilpatrick, Navan, County Meath, best known as the writer of TV comedies like Father Ted and Black Books, is also a cartoonist. He was design editor for Dundalk-based zine Almost News in 1985, for which he drew "Trendy Trevor" and "Hard Drinking Dan the Pints Man", and edited Gakbag (1988), for which he drew "Jimmy's Boots" and "The Twelve Marys". He contributed to The Yellow Press in the early 1990s, and drew "Doctor Crawshaft's World of Pop" in the NME (1992-93) and "The Chairman" in The Observer Sports Monthly (2003-4).
