dv8 was an arts and cultural paper published in Belfast from 1992 to 1996 by Peter Johnston. Its editor was Stephen McKee. It included the photostrip Orangeman by the Hole in the Wall Gang, the comic strip response Catholic Lad by Malachy Coney and Seán Doran, some of Coney and Doran's Major Power and Spunky strips, and strips by Davy Francis, including "A Short History of Northern Irish Comics". The Guardian called it "the most innovative journal of youth culture in Ireland". Shortly after the IRA ceasefire in 1996 it published a green, white and orange Union Jack on the cover, and received threats from paramilitary groups. Not long after that the magazine closed.
