Irish Free Comics Day is an annual event inspired by the international Free Comic Book Day, organised by Rob Curley and involving comic shops all over Ireland, in which Irish-created comics are given away to comic shop customers.
The first Free Irish Comics Day was held on 18 October 2008, synchronised with 24 Hour Comics Day. Participating shops were: Sub City, Exchecquer Street, Dublin and Eyre Square Shopping Centre, Galway; Forbidden Planet, Crampton Quay, Dublin and Ann Street, Belfast; Tower Records, Wicklow Street, Dublin; Other Realms, Paul Street Shopping Centre, Cork; Comix Stop, 115 The Quay, Waterford; and The Shadow Corner, High Street, Kilkenny.
There was a 2009 event, for which Liam Geraghty and Philip Barrett created a comic strip, but I haven't been able to find a date for it. I think it was the same weekend as 24 Hour Comics Day again.
The 2010 event was synchronised with the international event on 15 May. Participating shops were: Sub City, Dublin and Galway; Forbidden Planet, Dublin and Belfast; Easons bookshop, Heuston Station, Dublin; Other Realms, Cork; and The Winding Stair, Dublin.
