From the 1957 Beano Book
General Jumbo was an adventure series from The Beano, originally drawn by Paddy Brennan. Young Alfie "Jumbo" Johnson had an army of remote-controlled toys which he used to foil crimes. The first series appeared in 1953-54. A second series ran in 1956, drawn by John Nichol, before Brennan returned in the 1957 Beano Book and a third series in 1963. Other artists to draw the strip include David Sutherland (1964-66), Sandy Calder (1969-75), and, more recently, Keith Robson. The strip has also appeared in Nutty (1980-81) and Buddy.
