Jim Fitzpatrick is an illustrator, poster artist and photographer best known for his illustrated adaptations of Irish mythology, The Book of Conquests (1978) and The Silver Arm (1983), and his iconic two-tone portrait of Che Guevara.
Biography[]
Fitzpatrick was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1946, and is the grandson of cartoonist Thomas Fitzpatrick.
His influences include Gustav Klimt, Alphonse Mucha, Harry Clarke, Hokusai, Hirosighe, Utamaro, Aubrey Beardsley, Jack Kirby, Hal Foster and Barry Windsor-Smith.
In comics, he drew a weekly strip, Nuada of the Silver Arm, for the Sunday Independent in 1974-75, and contributed art to Legends of Arzach (Tundra Publishing, 1992) and Visions of Arzach (Kitchen Sink Press, 1993).
